For forty years, together with our supporters, WWF-Australia has been at the front and centre of conservation. But we rely almost entirely on the generosity of people like you.
Your donation today will help to create a world where our most precious species and places are protected - now and into the future. And right now, we need your help. There are amazing animals dying out in our own backyard. In southeast NSW and QLD, koalas are losing their homes and their lives. Across QLD’s Koala Coast, 80% of koalas have already been lost. Six out of the world’s seven species of marine turtle live in Australian waters and are listed as either endangered or vulnerable. Australia has lost more mammals in the last 200 years than every other country in the world, combined – it’s a tragedy.
And human activities like burning fossil fuels, farming and deforestation are causing global warming at an accelerated speed. Our natural world is being confronted with more pressure than it can handle. In Australia, we're already seeing an increase in the frequency of extreme weather events. Rising temperatures and acidity within our oceans are contributing to severe coral bleaching events, such as in 2016 and 2017 when more than one-third of the Great Barrier Reef was destroyed in back-to-back bleaching events. If we don't act now to reduce carbon emissions and limit global warming to less than 1.5°C, the impacts of global warming will continue to worsen. We urgently need your help.
But our fight to protect our planet doesn’t end there. We also need your support to bring tigers back from the brink of extinction, protect Borneo’s critically endangered orangutans, and put an end to the four snow leopards being killed each week to fuel the illegal wildlife trade.
The good news is that every day, across Australia and around the world, we’re at the front line in the fight to protect our incredible planet. However, we can't win this fight alone. We need you by our side - before it’s too late.
