Stranded and struggling in floodwaters, animals across southeast Qld and northern NSW are in desperate need of help. Joeys tragically orphaned in this disaster require specialist care if they're going to survive.
Your donation today will help wildlife rescue partners respond to this disaster, support carers and vets to nurse injured animals back to health and repair wildlife facilities damaged by floods.
Once the waters subside, you'll also help flood-damaged tree planting projects - critical to the survival of koalas - get back on track, as well as efforts to build Australia's resilience against future disasters.
Please give today to help wildlife survive these devastating floods. Your generosity will be lifesaving.
Your donation today
Catastrophic bushfires, now devastating floods
Combined with Australia's ongoing extinction crisis, wildlife desperately need your help to face these extreme events threatening their long-term survival. Your donation today will help with:
Wildlife response and recovery
While many animals will tragically have been unable to escape, others are in urgent need of rescue from floodwaters. Wildlife rescuers are under immense pressure to respond before it's too late, however, the floods have damaged some care facilities - making this crisis even more difficult. Your gift will help wildlife partners to care for animals in need and support facilities to recover from flood damage.
Landscape project recovery
WWF supporters have helped sustain incredible bushfire recovery over the past two years, including habitat restoration projects to boost koala populations. Now with much of the same region hit by devastating floods, your help is needed to support bush regenerators and Indigenous rangers to get these critical projects back on track.
Building resilience
Flooding and fires on the extreme scale and frequency we're experiencing are not sustainable for people or nature. As part of Regenerate Australia, your help will support ongoing conservation and climate preparedness work to create a more secure future for us all.
Please donate today to save the lives of animals caught in these heartbreaking floods and to protect their ongoing survival.
Update on flood response so far
When a disaster at the scale of these latest floods happens, one thing is clear - no one organisation can meet the needs of all wildlife across the country. That’s why WWF-Australia has partnered with incredible groups in all states and territories to ensure help is received quickly and wherever it’s needed most.
Emergency funds have already been deployed for immediate wildlife rescue, care and recovery through our partners:
- Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, NSW
- Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, Qld
- Friends of the Koala, NSW
- Sydney Wildlife, NSW
- Ipswich Koala Protection Society, Qld.
Funds are also supporting emergency landscape project recovery with partners:
- Bangalow Koalas
- Border Ranges Richmond Valley Landcare Network
This is just the beginning and we will continue to direct emergency funds as the situation unfolds. We’ll keep you updated on the impact of your gifts in the coming weeks and months.
There is still so much more to be done to recover and rebuild from this crisis. Thank you so much for your support.
