"One of the problems is people think we have time. We don't."
Darren Grover - WWF-Australia Head of Living Ecosystems
Please will you help us save Australian animals from extinction? There is no time to waste. We must act now.
Since we set our ambitious goal of saving 21 threatened species by 2021 three years ago, the threats of climate change and excessive tree-clearing have escalated rapidly.
From a 'background issue' three years ago, climate change is now front-page news with story after story of mass fish-kills, powerful storms, extreme droughts and increasingly severe bushfires.
As for tree-clearing, eastern Australia has been listed as a world deforestation 'hotspot'. Sadly, Australia is the only developed nation on this list.
There are currently 19,000 Australian species that are considered 'at threat'. The situation is dire, and without a dramatic increase in conservation work to protect our threatened species, many of them will become extinct.
Now is the time to increase our efforts to protect these species. We must save the animals that make Australia the remarkably beautiful country it is.
Please donate today to help stop this accelerating crisis.
