Help expand a vital koala hospital
2020 was a terrible year for our koalas. But their health and natural environment have been under attack for a long time. Bushfires, droughts, excessive deforestation, animal attacks and vehicle strikes have put our east coast koalas on the pathway to extinction. We could lose these koalas by 2050.
Emergency facilities were quickly inundated with injured wildlife. As more critically injured koalas arrived hour after hour, the response needed was unprecedented. And for some animals it was just too late. But together we can change that.
Please help expand one of Australia's leading koala clinics in the Northern Rivers region of NSW today.
Your donation
From Injury to Survival
Friends of the Koala in Lismore is already doing a herculean job caring for sick and injured koalas. But their small clinic is stretched beyond limits.
Your support today can help expand the Friends of the Koala hospital now - and DOUBLE the number of sick and injured koalas they can treat. You can ensure more koalas get the emergency care they need to survive, and return to the wild.
During the 2019-20 bushfires, the Northern Rivers koala population took a beating. Up to 85% of the koalas were killed and huge swathes of their forest habitat was destroyed.
Your generous donation today could help:
- Expand the existing clinic so that more koalas can receive lifesaving care.
- Upgrade the surgery with state-of-the-art equipment.
- Build new runs for overnight emergency koala patients - and to manage the increasing number of koalas being received.
- Create a larger enclosure for permanent koalas to improve their quality of life.
Together we can protect our koalas from unnecessary pain and suffering, boost their chances of survival, and end the threat of koala extinction once and for all.
