From deadly disease to catastrophic wildfires, floods, and rampant deforestation - koalas have been hit from all angles.
Now uplisted to ENDANGERED status along our east coast, they're at a critical crossroad and urgently need your help. Without stronger protection, koala populations are on a very slippery slope towards extinction by 2050 in eastern Australia.
There's no time to lose.
Adopting a koala today will help turn this tragedy around by protecting them against Chlamydia that’s decimating populations, upscaling the capacity of wildlife hospitals to ensure koalas can receive the care they need, and by protecting and restoring their forest homes.
Please, adopt a koala today and help save this much-loved Aussie icon from extinction. And for each koala you assist, you’ll be helping hundreds of other native species too. You'll also receive exclusive koala adoption updates throughout the year, so you can see the difference you're helping to make.

Help protect koalas against their biggest threats
Koalas are fighting a number of catastrophic threats to their survival.
Without urgent help, they're on track for extinction by 2050 in east coast states. Your adoption today could help give koalas their best chance of survival.
Deadly Disease
Chlamydia is the leading cause of hospitalisation for koalas. 48% of the population are currently living with the disease. At its worst, chlamydia is fatal. It also causes blindness as well as infertility, preventing koala populations from recovering their numbers. Your support could help support a program testing the effectiveness of giving koalas a double dose of an existing chlamydia vaccine, to increase immunity in the population. It could be vital to preventing extinction.
Wildlife Disasters
Climate-driven disasters like the 2019/20 bushfires are devastating for koala populations. Tens of thousands of koalas were killed in the flames. Climate change means we can expect these events to be more frequent, more extreme - and to happen in more parts of the country in the future. Your support could help train more wildlife vets so no native animal is more than two hours from professional care in key areas.
Habitat Loss
Australia clears native habitat faster than any developed country on earth. If we don't halt and reverse our reckless tree-clearing rate, east coast koalas could be extinct by 2050. Your support could help defend six priority landscapes from deforestation to ensure the safety of the wildlife that live there.
